ARtist website
Karen Kim is a Grammy award-winning classical violinist playing with several chamber music groups in the greater NYC area. She wanted her website to be a place where people could easily find information about all of her professional activities. Social media and marketing are not of great interest to her, as her audience will largely be familiar with her work.

She plays in a string quartet, as well as a few contemporary music ensembles who perform around the world. Events need to be updated quarterly to semi-annually. Recordings and media links require annual updating as well.

The average age of the classical music audience is 49 years old.

30% of US classical music audiences hold a graduate degree.

In 2019, classical music listenership in the UK had a 12% increase in ages 45-54.

14% of classical music listeners also listen to other genres in a 7-day period.

rebranding classical music

There’s been a recent trend of "rebranding" over the past several years amongst institutions such as the NY Phil, San Francisco Symphony, Paris Opera, and Boston Symphony.

Common trends include modern fonts and styling, along with humble sophistication. Artists are presented in a hip, trendy, and sincere way, modernized but not overly glorified.

modern aesthetic and straightforward info
Stylistically, she wanted a simple, modern, and straightforward website but did not have any specifications beyond that.

I presented her with series of sample pages to assess which direction she would want to go in and general layout of the landing page.
